Nearly eight years ago, I found myself sleepless one night. At 22 years old, I was only a year into my bartending career, but I had already found myself challenged by the lack of low-calorie and enjoyable cocktail options. As a part-time model and fitness enthusiast, I was mindful of the calories I consumed, but I also wanted to be able to enjoy the occasional martini without any guilt. After a few weeks of brainstorming and intense research, I created a business plan, found a business partner, and hired a food scientist to create a line of low-calorie cocktail mixes. I encountered a rewarding amount of enthusiasm from both consumers and potential investors, but due to a combination of circumstances including the dive in the economy, the budding start-up business was put on the backburner.

Many years later, as I found myself more and more intensely immersed in the world of mixology and bartending, I realized I had found the perfect path for my venture: all-natural, low-calorie, handmade craft cocktail mixes.

It has not been an easy journey, but only a year into the life of Southern Twist, it has been incredibly rewarding. I have always believed that every person should follow the path of his or her own passions, and I feel eternally blessed that I have found a way to pursue both my passions, bartending and business, with Southern Twist. My blog is for everyone that loves cocktails, but also for those that have a love for business as well. If you find that you are in my shoes, or you are wondering if becoming an entrepreneur is right for you, I hope to have some insight for you here on my blog.

If you are an aspiring entrepreneur, as myself, I hope you will visit my blog as well as share your own experiences. I have found it to be incredibly helpful and inspiring to spend time with fellow entrepreneurs, regardless of the field in which they are beginning their business.
